How We Can Help
The 2024/25
Southern District Council
The SDC's mission is to keep you informed and empower each church to advance the goals of spiritualism in accordance with the established rules, guidelines, and the seven principles. We serve as a bridge between your churches and the SNU, ensuring that your concerns and successes are heard. In the coming year, our focus is on unification and healing relationships, so that by the next SDC AGM, churches are inspired to take part and a new SDC can be democratically elected to represent our region's diverse churches.
Here's what we do
Our funds are available to assist with immediate, small-scale issues. So far, we've supported churches facing financial difficulties by funding new signs, contributing to small building projects, and covering minor bills. If your church encounters any obstacles, please reach out to us for assistance. We have recently organised around £7,000, from the SNU, to help with unpaid power bills in various churches in the district. The SNU has supported this without question. We are also engaged with some struggling committees, helping solve problems, offering advice, arbitration and hands on help. It's so important that we all realise we are volunteers and our motivation and drive comes from our hearts and our spirit.
Healing
We have a dedicated healing sub-committee with a “ring fenced” budget to help healers get qualified and fund various events. You can find an application form for financial aid on our website, www.southerndistrict.co.uk. These funds are meant to be used, so let's make sure we support one another and utilise the help available through the SNU. They want us to succeed.
We are all experiencing challenges due to funding limitations, but together, we can overcome them. Let's stay united and make the most of the resources we have. Please call us!
Community
We are organising “Taster Events” , such as healing sessions (how to), mediumship practices, introduction to spiritualism, with clairvoyance. Trance conditions and workshops and the philosophy of spiritualism, our history and why it's important that the work from the past is relevant going forward. Please call me with any input or ideas you may wish to share, or if you would like to host an event.
We will also be organising fundraising events to support both your churches and the SDC. Although districts receive annual funding from the Union, fundraising is still essential. We hope to bring in some renowned mediums for these events, not only to attract the public and showcase what Spiritualism is all about, but also to fund raise for us in the south.
Lookout for our newsletters, emailed and printed, they will have more details. Please feel free to contribute with stories etc. You can add stories on our website for inclusion. Get your church know!
